Product Description This new Solar Atomic model is based on the original DW6900 model, G-Shock's best-selling case design. With this model, a Solar Atomic Timekeeping system wasemployed without changing the basic design of the watch. This makes it possible to generate power to keep the watch running with extreme accuracy and minimal exposure to normal lighting. This simple design was achieved by eliminating as much coloring and decoration as possible and the result is a model that capturesthe essence of the basic G-Shock. Black Resin Band and a Digital Dial Code.
Amazon.com Product Description With a streamlined design and sleek styling, the Casio Men's G-Shock Atomic Digital Watch features performance functions and durable components that meet the lifestyle needs of the modern man. The strong and flexible black resin band fastens with an adjustable buckle, and this innovative timepiece offers World Time with 31 time zones, stopwatch, countdown timer, five alarms, stopwatch, 12- and 24-hour formats, and the handy capacity to automatically receive official atomic time through a built-in antenna. Three circular subdials give you all the information you need, and a rectangular display in the bottom half of the black dial offers the time and day, date, and month information. A handy EL backlight makes for easy viewing in any light conditions and turns on automatically with the tilt of your wrist. With eco-friendly solar power for added convenience and a water resistant depth of 660 feet (200 meters), this rugged and reliable timepiece is also shock resistant.

Great Watch August 30, 2010 William Shipman (Lawrenceville, GA) This is a very nice watch. It has the basic features that most G Shocks have. The best thing about it is its simplicity. The receiving of the time signal works great. If you are looking for a basic watch with world time this is it.
Engineering suits an engineer August 19, 2010 Derek Jensen I purchased this watch because I have a high demand for durability of my watches because of my job. This watch works perfect for being in the field as a practicing chemical engineer. I wash my hands often and expose it to different chemicals regularly; it stays with me just like a G-Shock is expected. I own several G-Shock watches, and this is my favorite classic style because it has been upgraded with solar-atomic. The band waves seemed a bit deep at first; however, I have become used to the appearance now. The resin band is extremely comfortable. I wear this watch for work and formal occasions. It fits well under a dress shirt sleeve. It lets me express my enthusiam for athleticism and utilitarianism. You will not regret buying this watch, it's perfect. It is a true icon for the G-Shock line.
Didn't hold charge August 19, 2010 Stephen2 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was deflated--after reading all the wonderful reviews about the watch--to find that it didn't hold its charge. I was led to believe by some reviewers that the charge would last for months but it was only a day or two when it would not calibrate with the atomic clock in Denver. I recharged it but the same thing happened. I called Amazon concerned that I may have received a previously owned watch or one of lesser quality. Responses to my question were nor reassuring.
Awesome Product August 18, 2010 Avid Sports Enthusiast Ordered this watch after reading the reviews. I received it yesterday and could not be happier! Simple, elegant, and only the functions I need in a sports watch. Considered Riseman and Pathfinder but decided that altimeters, thermometers, compasses, etc. are best left to a GPS device. There are inherent problems putting those functions into a watch. Anyway, opened the box and my watch had a blank screen. I set it in the sun for about 4 hours and it kicked on. I tried to pick up the atomic signal manually but to no avail. I left it by a window overnight and it did not pick up. Then about 10:30 this morning it got a signal and time and date set in (I had already programmed in my home city as per the instructions). I have had it in a window under direct sunlight now for about 3 hours and the battery still shows only half charged. I called the Casio authorized service company in my area and the rep was very helpful. He said that it is common to get your watch delivered with a blank screen. But, because the battery has not been used, you just need to fully charge it and in his experience it takes up to a week in full sun to get a full charge. He guaranteed it would charge and that I would just have to be patient. He said he let his 6900 sit in a drawer and the battery went dead. He put it in a window for a week and has maintained a full charge for 3 years! My watch is running great and since my daughter is living in Germany I really appreciate the world time function. I also do a lot of high intensity interval training as well as long distance running and cycling so the countdown timer and stopwatch are perfect for me. Some reviewers complained that you cannot see the actual time when using the stopwatch and countdown functions. I don't find this to be a problem because when I am working out I know what time I started and am too busy focusing on the workout to worry about what time it is. This model is a fantastic atomic solar upgrade to the original 6900 which I owned many years ago. Great to be back with Casio quality. Would highly recommend this to anyone considering a quality digital watch at a great price.
nice G watch August 1, 2010 g-shockerz The watch has never missed a auto time sync, and I actually wear the watch to bed. There is no need to set the watch near a window, at least in my area.
For those who are looking for or want a military style watch and would rather have a blacked out watch let me tell you this watches' bezel writing is not a bright white at all it is more of a gray. I took a sharpie and blacked out the G-Shock at the top but found no need to black out the smaller lettering on the sides, as you can barely see that lettering anyway because the side letting is gray not white. So it has the Military look to it after I blacked out only the G-Shock lettering at the top.
When it arrived the power level was on medium so I strapped it on the fence outside in the sunlight for about an hour and a half it then went to full charge and has stayed there.
The watch arrived very quickly after ordering, I ordered over the weekend and it arrived on Thursday, with free shipping. It was [...] with standard/free shipping and got here in 4 days. You can't beat that.
This is my third G-Shock and my favorite. Great buy. Get one!!
update 8-12-2010:
I went ahead and blacked out the whole bezel. Looks a lot better. Also changed the buckle with a buckle from a Seiko Black Monster band.(an old one I had in the drawer) Now the watch looks a lot better front and back of wrist.
